What Is ASTM B862 Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe?
ASTM B862 is the standard specification for titanium and titanium alloy welded pipes intended for corrosion-resistant service. Grade 2 titanium—commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti)—is the most widely used grade due to its optimal balance of strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance.
Unlike seamless tubing (ASTM B338), ASTM B862 covers larger-diameter titanium welded pipe made by cold forming titanium strip and welding the seam using TIG (tungsten inert gas) or plasma arc welding under inert atmosphere. This process provides cost-effective and highly customizable pipe solutions with uniform wall thickness and consistent dimensions.

Manufacturing Process

Titanium Strip Slitting: Titanium coils are slit to the required pipe width.
